INTERNATIONAL INTERDISCIPLINARY SEMINAR ON MUSICOLOGY 2023

Sewon, Bantul, Yogyakarta - Just on May 22, 2023 the Music Study Program completed the International Seminar on Musicology. The seminar was titled "International Interdisciplinary Seminar on Musicology 2023". The seminar was held at the Public Lecture Building of the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta.

This seminar was held as one of the series of anniversary activities. Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta This international seminar activity is the first for the Music Study Program. The plan will be a biennial event as one of the activities of the international standard Music Study Program.

The event was opened by the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta Prof. Dr. Drs. Timbul Raharjo, M.Hum. In his speech he said that activities like this should be done often. "This forum is very important for us, both the music study program and ISI Yogyakarta to be increasingly recognized worldwide."

Before the main event, participants were invited to enjoy a string quartet performance by the Music Study Program students. They played Mozart's String Quartet in D major.

The 2023 International Seminar on Musicology presented several speakers from both inside and outside Indonesia. From Indonesia, Dr. Andre Indrawan M.Hum., M.Mus.St. From the United States, Dr. Joanna Ross Hersey and Edward Van Ness, M. A. Then Angela Lopez Lara, M. A. from Spain and Martin Roman J. Klein, M. A. from Germany. The seminar was also moderated by Indra K. Wardhani M.Sn. from Indonesia.

As in the seminar's theme, the speakers' areas of study were related to the interdisciplinary nature of music. These included musical instruments and gender issues, music curriculum, music reflection, women composers, and the perception of scales (modal and pelog). All materials were presented in two sessions.

Indeed, at the beginning of the event there was a slight technical problem with the equipment for online participants. But after that the seminar went smoothly. This was conveyed by Ezra Deardo Purba M.A as the Chairperson of the Committee, "Although at the beginning we had experienced technical problems online, but Praise God, Alhamdulillah, Astungkara, the seminar activities went well".

The event was attended by hundreds of participants from various countries. In addition to local participants, there were also those from the United States, Germany, Spain, and the Czech Republic. Participation in the seminar was spread through offline and online (zoom and youtube).
