Adi Wijaya in Avant-Garde Pop Music Architecture Discussion at Suar Festival 2026

Music Composition Program Lecturer, Adi Wijaya, Discusses Avant-Garde Pop Music Architecture at Suar Festival 2026
The Faculty of Performing Arts once again demonstrates its active contribution to the development of the domestic music industry through the participation of one of its best lecturers. Adi Wijaya, a lecturer in the Music Composition Study Program, is scheduled to be the main speaker in the SUAR LAB session, part of the prestigious SUAR FESTIVAL 2026 event series.
The discussion titled “Avant-Garde in Pop Song Architecture: The Relationship Between Pop Structure and 21st-Century Compositional Techniques” will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Ruka 3, Magelang.
In this session, Adi Wijaya will dissect the conventional boundaries in popular music.

He will present how 21st-century contemporary composition techniques—often considered complex and experimental (avant-garde)—can be integrated into pop song architecture without losing their appeal and accessibility for a broad audience.
“This topic is highly relevant for today's young composers and music students. We're not just talking about trends, but about how to solidify the aesthetic structure in pop works through an academic approach and more progressive compositional techniques,” said a representative from the Music Composition Program.

This event, moderated by Ryan Ajayanto, is expected to be a space for interactive dialogue between academics, practitioners, and music enthusiasts. Adi Wijaya's participation in Suar Festival 2026 also affirms the position of the Faculty of Performing Arts as an institution that consistently encourages its educators to explore creative boundaries beyond the classroom.
