About Us

Ethnomusicology is part of the Faculty of Performing Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, which studies forms of performing arts related to the mastery of performance techniques and documentation of ethnic music.

The Department of Ethnomusicology FSP ISI Yogyakarta was established in 1984, when it was called the Ethnomusicology Study Program of the Karawitan Department. In 1985, the Ethnomusicology Study Program first opened new student enrollment. In 1990, the Ethnomusicology Study Program changed its status to the Department of Ethnomusicology until now.

Graduate Profile

The profile of graduates majoring in Ethnomusicology is a researcher of ethnic music of the archipelago. The competencies of the S-1 Ethnomusicology major are as follows:

  1. Have basic ethnomusicology skills
  2. Ability to conduct research on ethnic music in Indonesia
  3. Have theoretical and analytical skills of ethnic music in the archipelago
  4. Ability to play ethnic music instruments
  5. have basic skills in ethnic music criticism in Indonesia
  6. Have the ability to create written works for scientific publications in the field of ethnic music
  7. Have an attitude of leadership and entrepreneurship
