Sewon, Yogyakarta - Last Tuesday, February 25, 2020, the Music Study Program of the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta has finished holding a Lecture Recital and Master Class entitled "Tone Moves - A History of Piano Technique". The event took place at the Concert Hall ISI Yogyakarta and was opened by Mr. Kustap Yusuf M.Sn. as the Head of the Music Department of the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta.

The lecture recital and Mater Class speaker, Luca Chiantore, is an Italian pianist and composer. He is also a Doctor in Musicology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. On that occasion, Luca explained about classical-Western piano playing techniques through the historical approach of both composers and their works.

"Techniques in piano playing have evolved over the ages, and always will." Luca explained in his presentation.

Luca also mentioned the discrimination against female composers, which affects the popularity of their works. "Women composers are no less interesting, and many are pioneers of certain styles."

The activity It was very interesting, with Luca occasionally showing off his skills about what what he explained so as to facilitate participants' understanding. At the end of the the end of the Lecture Recital session, Luca performed the whole of what he had in three songs, one of which was Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata". The audience gave a standing ovation after Luca played his last piano note. his last piano note.

From the stands, several students were present to fill the seats provided. Rachel Nadia, Ni Wayan Mitha, and Olivia Tjandrasari did not want to miss this opportunity. All three of them actively participated in the Master Class which was directly guided by Luca Chiantore.

"Dr. Luca Chiantore's explanations and examples were very detailed and expressive, so I could immediately grasp what he meant. Not only about technical aspects, he also conveyed the historical background of the composer in question along with the character of the music, touching techniques, and shaping frasering." Rachel Nadia said enthusiastically.
