INTERMEDIALITY OF PERFORMING ARTS: THEATER, FILM, TECHNOLOGY AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES IN THE ERA OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
The growing convergence of theater, film and digital technology has changed the paradigm of performance creation, production and experience. This transformation not only encourages aesthetic hybridization but also revitalizes traditional narratives (myths, folklore, legends) through a contemporary, technology-laden lens. In the context of a dynamic creative industry, the integration of new technologies with cultural heritage creates both opportunities and ethical challenges. This evolution raises concerns about how to embody ideas and sources of ideas into a work, how the latest theoretical and artistic studies and developments, how strategies for self-development of performing arts actors, and how to map the future of performing arts.
Intermediality in the performing arts refers to the interaction and collaboration of various media, genres and art forms in one work. Intermediality is no longer as simple as using video projection in theater performances, or using static cinematography techniques in recorded theater performances. Technological developments, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI) is radically and exponentially redefining the approach to performing arts. AI has transformed into a new entity that can very well be a creator, collaborator, and even a performer itself. This conference aims to build a critical dialog space between academics, artists, and practitioners to explore the interdisciplinarity of performing arts that is currently taking place.
