Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta Organizes Writing / Journalism Training for Students, Lecturers, and Public Relations Team of the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta

The Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta held a writing / journalism training on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 13.00 - 15.00 WIB in the Public Lecture Building 2nd floor of the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta. This journalistic training activity was attended by the public relations team, student representatives from the Department Student Association, and lecturer representatives from each study program within the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta, and presented a guest speaker Mr. Heri Abi Burachman Hakim, S.IP., M.IP representative of the ISI Yogyakarta public relations team.

This activity was opened by Mr. J. Catur Wibono, M.Sn. as Assistant Dean II of the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta. In his speech Mr. J. Catur Wibono, M.Sn. conveyed an interesting ancient Latin proverb, namely

verb volant scripta manent ,what is spoken will vanish, what is written will be eternal

This proverb literally means that the spoken word can be forgotten easily, but the written word will remain.

In his presentation entitled "Writing in Mass Media Personal and Institutional Branding", Mr. Heri Abi Burrachman Hakim, S.IP., M.IP explained that writing in mass media (online media and offline media) can be used as a means of branding the institution and can provide great benefits for the institution because it can increase the promotion and webometric of the institution.

Furthermore, in his presentation, Mr. Heri Abi Burrachman Hakim, S.IP., M.IP conveyed some tips on how to produce interesting and worthy writing to be published in the mass media (online media and offline media). The writing must fulfill the 5W + 1H elements, namely What (what happened), Who (who are the figures involved), When (when it happened), Where (where it happened), Why (why it happened), and How (how it happened).

Before closing his presentation, Mr. Heri Abi Burrachman Hakim, S.IP., M.IP. also explained how writing can build personal branding, so we need to utilize the media to build the image of the institution.

This activity aims to improve the writing skills of the trainees, it is hoped that this activity will increase the interest of the trainees to write news and articles in offline and online media.
