Insitut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta is ranked 24th in the world and is the highest ranking for Asia and Indonesia in 2017, based on world rankings for subject performing arts. This is based on the ranking of university study programs around the world as a result of the Quacquarelli Symonds survey entitled QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017.
In the research, Quacquarelli Symonds examined 46 study programs from 1,127 participating universities from around the world. From Indonesia, 25 programs from seven universities made it to the world's top 500. The seven universities are Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), ISI Surakarta, ISI Denpasar, Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Yogyakarta, and Universitas Indonesia.
Of the six universities, the highest ranking was achieved by ISI Yogyakarta's performing arts study program in 24th position and also the highest ranking for the Asian level. "Indonesia's ranking improved with an additional 13 ranks in the top 500. ISI Yogyakarta's achievement is the highest by ranking 24th in the world," wrote a Quacquarelli Symonds press release.
